DJ Comments

  • XPANSUL (Plus 8, Trapez)Tupolev and Spark Plug are simply amazing!! Super release… FULL SUPPORT.
  • DAVE CONGREVE (Soma)Another really strong EP, all the tracks have a great funk to them. Got a great reaction to spark plug over the weekend, for me it’s certainly the track that has the most going for it. Will chart @7 playing a lot.
  • ALLAND BYALLO (Liebe Detail)Tupolev and Physicist are the ones for me on this excellent release. I love the movement in this track. Solid peak jam here. Will play this often! Tupolev is a six minute naughty, sweaty techno party!
  • BUTANE (Alphahouse)I dig this whole EP. thanks guys.

Official press text:

All the way from Switzerland, Stefan Sommerhalder (aka Fan Erhalder) is back to showcase his distinctive dance floor style with the Spark Plug EP.

01 – Physicist (Original Mix) Fan has obviously been working hard in his studio lab as the title of this track suggests. Physicist is a slamming tech house groover with its minimal, glitchy percussion and stripped down bass. The track echoes into a break of minimal pops and clicks that sets up a bombardment of funk. Tracky and groovy, what more can one ask?

02- Spark Plug (Original Mix) The EP title track pounds down a thicker sound and Sparks do fly as this track develops. Funky assed bleeps, blips and blops work up into a natural rhythm that very few master as well as Fan. Some nice vocal snippets and a rasping lead synth line make this a dance floor smasher.

03 – Tupolev (Original Mix) Undoubtedly the toughest track of the EP, Tupolev is more a heads down affair. Fan manages to deliver a track that is pounds the senses and jacks the body. Its rolling drums and sharp, punchy, synth stabs keep the energy high and mood sinister. Sometimes you just gotta loose yourself to the darkness!

04 – Annie’s House – feat. K9D (Original Mix) As the title suggests Fan takes his foot off the tempo peddle here and get’s ‘jiggy wid it’, creating a more subtle minimal groove.  Fan and K9D display an ability to use Fan’s signature techniques, vocal clips and trademark bleeps in a variety of ways to change the moods within his palette of music. A great track to round-off this stellar follow-up project to his debut “Killer Ducks” EP on Immigrant Digital.
