Press Review

Official press text:

From funky drummer to postproduction engineer to upcoming techno producer in only a few short years, Switzerland’s Stefan Sommerhalder (aka Fan Erhalder) is making a name for himself in the global techno community. Fan channels his unique brand of funky, jackin’ techno through his monthly radio show synapse.fm and Immigrant Digital is excited about exposing his talents through “The Killer Ducks EP,” the second digital only EP from the label.

The Killer Duck” kicks off the EP in typical Erhalder style, influenced by video games and funky-minimal percussion. The title track ‘clicks’ and ‘clacks’ like every ‘fine-feathered’ techno jam should, with frequent warped synthy meltdowns breaking up it’s killer groove. Break out plum sauce for this bitch!

Drum roll please!! “Milwaukee” is clearly influenced by the Chicago and Detroit acid house sound of the late 80’s, featuring and ‘old school’ male vocal sample and 80’s reminiscent drum and synth patches, with both a House and techno appeal. We like it so much we had to get it remixed!

Manchester’s Paul Carroll (aka Di-Fi/Digital Filth) flexes his no nonsense production style in his slammin remix of “Milwaukee,” showcasing his creative editing skills and a unique approach to arrangement. Combine that with a powerful sub bass line and a creative use of the original’s epileptic vocal snippets and we have a remix the residents of Milwaukee just can’t ignore…Di-Fi for Governor?!

Sexy Hexy,” Broken glass everywhere! Fan seems to have a knack (or do I mean quack?) for moulding quirky sounds into a serious groove and arranging them in a funky ass way. Sexy Hexy is a whimsical, ‘jiggy’ techno jaunt that bridges the gap between warm up and peak time….what a sexy beast.

Radio Waves” was made with one thing in mind…..smashing up dance floors! Erhalder flexes his ability to move a crowd with this monster techno number, containing a hypnotic lead synth line and a relentless, undulating bass line that weaves through the entire track. Wait for the break and then duck for cover!
